The women lose their beauty:
they cannot get their hair cut,
they cannot get a dye job,
they mask; they do not make up.
Their beauty sleep eludes them:
their faces strain with worry,
their shoulders round with sadness,
their bodies bow with sorrow.
They drink for consolation,
they bake things then they eat things,
they spend their days in sweatpants:
Unsplendid isolation.
And all the while their angels
are whispering of Jesus.
